German machinery and automotive industry plays an important role in the Indo-German trade relations. Initiatives such as Make in India and the recent policy to shift to electric vehicles by 2030 offers huge opportunities for the machinery and automotive industries in India. At the same time, new and updated standards, regulations and conformity assessment procedures are required to ensure benefit to the users and companies alike.

The German and Indian economies become more and more intertwined leading to a growing need to discuss the technical and regulatory environment to promote bilateral trade. For this purpose, we are planning to organize the 2nd Quality Infrastructure Round Table for the German Industry on the regulatory environment in India. The event provides an opportunity to share your company’s perspective on regulatory challenges in India, and discuss opportunities and solutions. Therefore, we would kindly like to ask you to save the date of the round table in your calendars.

Technical & Regulatory Framework for the Machinery and Automotive Sectors in India-Identifying Challenges & Possible Solutions Tuesday, 31 October 2017, 10:00 – 16:00 in Pune

The interactive Round Table is organized by GIZ (German Agency for International Cooperation) in collaboration with the German Embassy/Consulate  and the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce (IGCC). The series of round tables are conducted under the framework of the Indo-German Working Group on Quality Infrastructure between the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and the Indian Ministry for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution. The Working Group has the goal to reduce technical barriers to trade and strengthen product safety through the political dialogue of relevant ministries and regulators. As part of the Global Project Quality Infrastructure, GIZ supports the implementation of the Working Group in India and ensures that concerns of the industry are not only discussed, but are taken up within the political dialogue.
