Start-up India: Your connection to the world’s 3rd largest start-up ecosystem

Bilateral relations between India and Germany have been traditionally strong due to commercial, cultural and technological cooperation. The dynamic start-up sector adds a new and interesting dimension to the growing Indo-German ties. Both countries are strong markets for flourishing start-up hubs.  Domains like Fintech, Health-tech, Transport and mobility, Aerospace, Energy, E-commerce, Big Data, IoT and AI offer immense opportunities to Entrepreneurs in the Indo-German start-up ecosystems. 

Commerce and Industry minister Mrs. Nirmala Sitharaman during her visit to Germany alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi in June 2017, discussed with the country’s economic affairs minister Brigitte Zypries opportunities for collaboration to share knowledge and best practices in the start-up ecosystem. The Indian Government is planning to sign an agreement with Germany for a start-up exchange programme.

1. StartHubs AsiaBerlin network (SUAB) is a German-Asian start-up network connecting the ecosystems in Berlin, Bangalore, Jakarta and Manila. SUAB brings together different Start-Up ecosystem representatives to achieve professionalization and enhance direct cooperation between these stake-holders. The Roadshow this year will take place in Bengaluru from 27th Oct to 29th Oct 2017. You are welcome to be a part of the network  

2. RuhrSummit 2017 - RuhrSummit is the biggest conference and networking event in the Ruhr region for start-ups, investors, corporates and entrepreneurs from all over the world. The event will take place on 19th and 20th Oct 2017 in Dortmund which will be organised by IHK Dortmund. Around 650 participants from more than 25 start-up ecosystems worldwide are expected be a part of this event. The conference will offer them a multi-cultural exchange and insights into different start-up landscapes globally. There will be an international pitch competition “RuhrPitch” where six pre-qualified Startups from all over the world will pitch their business ideas.  IGCC is organising a delegation of start-ups from the domains of IoT, Energy and Logistics who would like to participate in the Summit. 3. DENA Awards - IGCC was one of the partners to German Energy Agency DENA for their Start- up Energy Transition Award 2017. The award is presented to 5 best start-ups globally from the clean tech domain. More than 600 applications were received from 70 nations. IGCC identified relevant start-ups on pan India basis, supporting and preparing them to participate in the competition. Start-up TESSOL headquartered in Mumbai was one of the recipients of this prestigious prize. The award ceremony took place in Berlin in March 2017.
