About SCAN-R

We are pleased to announce the launch of the Supply Chain Risk Assessment Navigator (SCAN-R), a dedicated support tool designed for SMEs. The innovative digital platform empowers SMEs to kickstart their supply chain due diligence journey by offering a comprehensive toolkit, including:

  • An assessment of SME’s current capabilities in implementing due diligence processes and identifying gaps in implementation,
  • A set of actionable management recommendations that can contribute to the sustainable growth of their business, and
  • A starting point for risk identification through a curated list of country- and sector-specific human rights and environmental risks.

Background

As sustainability becomes a priority in the global landscape, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are increasingly feeling the effects of supply chain due diligence requirements. Large corporations, mandated by regulations like the German Supply Chain Act to ensure transparency and accountability in their supply chains, are now seeking cooperation and assurances from their suppliers.

This means SMEs are facing growing requests to:

  • Establish corporate due diligence management processes,
  • Identify and assess high-risk areas within their supply chains,
  • Provide information on measures taken to address human rights and environmental risks.

Compliance with these requirements is typically enforced through codes of conduct, implemented by audits, and further included within the terms of business agreements. Non-adherence to these established terms may jeopardise the business relationships of SMEs with their buyers.

By implementing effective due diligence, SMEs can also benefit from strengthening existing business relationships, developing new partnerships with larger companies, enhancing the resilience of their operations, and building a stronger reputation in the global market.

However, navigating these new due diligence demands can be challenging.  Understanding the requirements, developing processes, and implementing them can be a daunting task, especially for SMEs.

Join the session to learn how SMEs can leverage SCAN-R to unlock business opportunities!
