​About Indo-German Chamber of Commerce  

Established in 1956, the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce (IGCC) – also known as AHK Indien – is part of the global network of German Chambers of Commerce Abroad (AHKs), with over 140 offices in 92 countries. AHKs are key players in promoting German foreign trade and business development on behalf of the Federal Republic of Germany.   

Headquartered in Mumbai, we operate through six additional offices in New Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Pune, and Düsseldorf.   

This is a full-time in office Internship (3 months) based in Mumbai, India and reports to the Communications team.  

Key Responsibilities  

Social Media  

• Draft and coordinate LinkedIn posts for IGCC events, member news and announcements across regional offices.
• Support the revival of IGCC's Instagram presence with content ideas, captions and visual briefs.
• Maintain a content calendar and track post-performance in a simple monthly report.
• Gather photos, quotes and event details from colleagues for timely coverage.
• Develop content ideas and strategies to strengthen IGCC's presence across all communication channels.
• Stay up to date with digital trends and best practices to help grow IGCC's online reach.  

Publications and Editorial  

• Proofread and fact-check articles for the Indo-German Business Magazine and the Monthly Newsletter.
• Research topics on Indo-German trade, investment and industry for editorial use.
• Coordinate with contributors to collect articles, images and approvals on schedule. Help maintain a consistent house style across all Chamber publications.  

Website and Content  

• Upload and update information, news items, event pages and reports on the AHK India website.
• Check existing pages for outdated information, broken links and inconsistencies.  

Education Qualifications  

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, English, Public Relations or a related field.   

Skills 

• Excellent written English, with a clear, precise style and strong attention to detail. 
• Familiarity with LinkedIn and Instagram as professional channels. 
• Working knowledge of MS Office or Google Workspace. 
• Proficiency in Canva or similar design tools. 
• Experience with a website content management system. 
• Interest in international business, trade or Indo-German relations. 
• Knowledge of German (an advantage, not a requirement).

Key Responsibilities  

• Assist with tracking and co-ordination of candidates’ application process for the Hand in Hand project
• Coordinate with current and new candidates via phone and email.
• Regularly update and maintain candidate assessment files based on project-specific criteria as well as ensure accurate documentation in CRM systems
• Assist in drafting professional application documents in German, using information provided by candidates
• Support the coordination and execution of online events and information sessions 

Education Qualifications  

• Bachelor’s degree in any field  

Language skills 

• English – CEFR C2
• German – CEFR C1 minimum

Working in close partnership with the Foreign Chamber of Commerce abroad – AHK India – as part of the global network of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry, we offer a unique opportunity to operate at the interface of two of the world’s leading economies. 

 
We are currently seeking 2 Directors in India for our Investor Consulting division, based in New Delhi and Mumbai respectively, for a fixed-term appointment of five years. The successful applicant will be employed through the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce (IGCC). 

Are you ready for your next professional challenge in an international, high-impact environment? Join our Investment Consulting team in India and play a key role in positioning Germany as a prime destination for investment while strengthening economic and business ties between Germany and India. 

Your Responsibilities 

• Lead the GTAI India Investor Consulting offices in New Delhi and Mumbai respectively, working closely with a local employee.
• Develop and coordinate an annual overarching strategy for investor acquisition in India, in close cooperation with the GTAI industry teams.
• Independently analyse economic trends and key industries in India to identify companies with potential interest in expanding their business to Germany; establish contacts with decision-makers and conduct targeted information and investment promotion discussions.
• Actively approach and acquire investors at events such as trade fairs, conferences, workshops and webinars; promote Germany as a business location and represent GTAI externally.
• Build and continuously expand a strong network in India, engaging with public and private sector partners to encourage direct investment in Germany.
• Develop and maintain relationships with economic, political and social decision-makers, companies in target segments, business associations, institutions and authorities in Germany and abroad, including the development of partnership opportunities.
• Plan, document and manage investment projects using relevant supporting IT systems, such as CRM tools.
• Support and independently organize investor acquisition events.
• Prepare conceptual and content-driven contributions for the development and ongoing maintenance of publications. 

Your Profile 
 

We are looking for someone who has

• Completed an academic degree (Master’s, Diploma or a comparable qualification) in economics, business administration, engineering or another relevant field of study (preferably MBA).
• Minimum 10 -15 years of experience into cross border trade and investment promotion.
• Sound knowledge of corporate structures and business-strategic decision-making processes, as well as solid experience in market analysis, competitive analysis and strategy development for companies or business sectors.
• Sound knowledge of India’s economic environment, research landscape and key economic trends and stakeholders, as well as an understanding of India’s political and cultural context and its relevance to the German economy.   
• Sound knowledge of the structures and mechanisms of foreign trade promotion in Germany.
• Knowledge and practical experience in project management.  
• Hands-on experience in using social media as a tool for communication and business development support.   
• Excellent oral and written communication and professional presentation skills, with business fluent English; German language skills are desirable.   
• Strong intercultural competence combined with a willingness to travel internationally.
• Proven leadership qualities, assertiveness and strong negotiating skills.   
• A proactive, self-driven, independent and analytical approach to work.   
• A flexible and open mindset, with the ability to develop creative and pragmatic solutions.   
• Confident, practical use of AI tools to support research and day-to-day operational activities, alongside strong skills in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Word).   
• A strong affinity for Indian business culture and the Indian German relationship, supported by long-term relevant in-country experience.   
• Existing contacts with decision-makers in Indian industrial companies, as well as excellent network-building skills.
