BioFach India, India’s premier trade fair for organic food, was organized by NürnbergMesse India, August 6-8 2026, at IEML, Greater Noida. An Indo-German Pavilion,was organised by GIZ and supported by KfW and the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce (IGCC).
The German Pavilion brought collaborative efforts to life as it showcased practical approaches from Germany aimed at accelerating India’s transition to more sustainable and resilient food systems. Beyond knowledge exchange, the Pavilion provided a valuable marketplace, offering Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) and Self-Help Groups (SHGs) a platform to present their products, enterprises, and locally-rooted solutions.
Ms. Shivani Chaturvedi, IGCC, took part in a panel discussion ‘From Agroecology to Investable Food Systems: Markets, Finance & Partnerships’. Moderated by Ms. Ulrike Ebeling (Country Director, GIZ India), the session featured distinguished panelists including Rajit Punhani (FSSAI), Johannes Schneider (Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany), Rajeshwari SM (DAY-NRLM, Ministry of Rural Development, GoI), and Volker Klima (Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany) and Marco Schlueter (Naturland).
At the sidelines of BioFach India the EU-India Industry Breakfast Roundtable was also organized jointly by GIZ, IGCC, NM, and FEBI. The theme was “How can India build a sustainable food system?” the discussion brought together key stakeholders from across the food value chain. The discussion highlighted that the shift towards more sustainable food systems needs to be grounded in science and backed by stronger Farmer Producer Organisations. The participants also recognised organic and natural farming as complementary pathways towards more resilient food systems.
