The Indo-German Chamber of Commerce (IGCC) successfully organized the 26th edition of the German Christmas Market (GCM) at the PSOI Lawns, Chanakyapuri. The GCM is organised by IGCC under the aegis of the German Embassy. The two-day event once again stood out as a key celebration of Indo-German cultural exchange, attracting dignitaries, diplomats, families, and members of the wider community who enjoyed an authentic festive atmosphere filled with traditional German flavours and Indian treasures.

 

The market was inaugurated by Georg Enzweiler, Deputy Head of Mission of the German Embassy together with Mrs. Enzweiler, Jan Noether, Director General, IGCC and Shivani Chaturvedi, Regional Director, IGCC. The address highlighted how the German Christmas Market has become a cherished Delhi tradition, deepening mutual understanding and strengthening ties between Germany and India through shared cultural experiences.

This year’s edition saw over 120 exhibitors displaying their goods across various categories, ranging from festive décor, handicrafts, lifestyle products, gourmet treats, artisanal items, and sustainable solutions. The extensive participation added depth and variety to the visitor experience and reflected the longstanding enthusiasm and growing scale of the event.

 

Visitors enjoyed a warm holiday atmosphere enriched by Choral singing by the Mozart Choir of the Austrian Cultural Forum New Delhi, bringing the classic European yuletide spirit to life. Live band performances in the evenings created a cheerful festive ambience. Both the days were packed with children’s activities, including an on-the-spot painting competition, festive games, creative workshops, and continuous appearances by a juggling clown and Santa Claus. These elements together created a memorable celebration for attendees of all ages.

 

The 2025 German Christmas Market also featured innovations and sustainable solutions presented by several German industry leaders. A striking display of the all-new BMW X3 xDrive 20 added glamour to the event. ORAFOL showcased its expertise in advanced reflective solutions and promoted road‑safety awareness through an interactive face‑painting station. Deutsche Bahn engaged visitors with its vision for integrated, sustainable mobility through a photo booth, while BOSCH attracted significant attention with demonstrations of their latest power tools, highlighting efficiency and advanced technology for professional and DIY users. Adding an informative and cultural dimension to the market, the German National Tourist Board set up an Info Wall that highlighted Germany’s diverse travel potential.

 

These exhibits reaffirmed the market’s role as a platform not only for festive enjoyment but also for meaningful technological and industry engagement between India and Germany.

 

The event was supported by Associate Partners Deutsche Bahn, Lufthansa, and R.E. Rogers India, along with Partners Airbus, BMW, Bosch, DZ Bank, Germany Tourist Office, Landesbank BadenWürttemberg (LBBW), and ORAFOL. Their collaboration contributed to the market’s success and its ability to bring together cultural celebration and industry presence.
