The EDAG Smart Industry Summit 2025, held on 4- 5th June at the Roseate House, New Delhi, showcased the future of industrial transformation through a powerful convergence of digital innovation, sustainability, and Indo-German collaboration.
Hosted by EDAG in cooperation with the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce (IGCC) and IMA India, the two-day summit brought together industry leaders, technology pioneers, and policy stakeholders from both nations to explore advancements across sectors such as renewable energy, semiconductors, consumer electronics, and medical devices.
Industrial Metaverse & Future Tech on Display
At the heart of the summit was the Industrial Metaverse showcase, a fully immersive experience that brought the digital future of manufacturing to life. EDAG demonstrated four core applications- Smart Products, Smart Factories, Smart People, and Smart Ecosystems- through advanced simulations, digital twins, and virtual validation. These use cases demonstrated how the fusion of digital and physical systems is accelerating efficiency, flexibility, and sustainability in next-generation manufacturing.
Integrated seamlessly into this experience was a high-energy interactive tech exhibition, where leading partners- NVIDIA, SIEMENS, SAP, Phoenix Contact, and EKS- unveiled transformative solutions in AI-powered simulation, adaptive automation, robotics, and cloud-integrated engineering. The zone served as a live innovation lab, enabling direct engagement between German and Indian stakeholders, supporting the next generation of technology transformation.
Future of Indo-German Cooperation- hosted by IGCC:
Rainer Wittich, CEO of EDAG Production Solutions GmbH & Co. KG, delivered addresses on both days of the summit, underlining India’s central role in EDAG’s global growth. He emphasized: “India plays a key role in EDAG’s global innovation roadmap. The Smart Industry Summit reflects our commitment to co-engineering solutions with local partners, fostering a future-ready, resilient manufacturing landscape.”
Also addressing the gathering was Sebastian Borchmeyer, First Secretary, Economic and Global Affairs, German Embassy in India, who reaffirmed Germany’s deepening strategic focus on India as a tech and manufacturing partner- especially amid growing interest in diversifying industrial collaborations beyond traditional markets.
During a panel discussion, Stefan Halusa, Director General, IGCC, explained the growing interest of German companies in India, citing three key factors: “The first (factor) is the local market. The Indian economy is growing and it will continue to grow over the next couple of years. So if you look at growth around the world, India is one of the first and most important countries to look at. The second is scale. You look at India for export as well, to invest here also for exporting your goods and services, and the third one is the capabilities.”
He further noted “A lot of global capability centres are here, so it becomes a hub for research and development and engineering, and this combination is unique, and this is why German companies are looking for growth around the world. This is why they come to India.”

The summit featured power-packed panels that explored how AI, the Industrial Metaverse, digital twins, and smart ecosystems are reshaping the factory of the future:
Day 1: The panel ‘Global expertise driving green energy, semiconductors, electronics and pharma’ brought together top industry voices from Maruti Suzuki, Tata Power Renewable Energy, and LOHUM.
The session explored India’s rapidly expanding potential across key manufacturing sectors, emphasizing global expertise paired with Indian execution and cross-border collaboration in energy and electronics.
Day 2: The IGCC-moderated panel on “Metaverse & Smart Ecosystems: IT Shaping the Next Era of Industrial Intelligence” was moderated by Stefan Halusa, Director General, IGCC, featuring insights from:
- Arik Reiter, VP Digital Smart Factory, EDAG
- Jan Berner, Senior Project Manager, EDAG
- Milesh J, VP Strategy & Ops, SAP
- Lalit Jain, Product Marketing Head, Phoenix Contact.
The session shared how AI, immersive technologies, and digital ecosystems are helping shape scalable, cognitive, and future-ready manufacturing environments.

Throughout the summit, top industry speakers delivered deep dives on the technologies shaping Industry 5.0:
- NVIDIA presented the role of AI, digital twins, and the Omniverse in engineering connected industrial ecosystems
- SIEMENS discussed the shift from automated to adaptive production environments
- EY introduced Agentic AI and humanoid robotics for brownfield transformation
- EDAG experts covered strategic planning through Smart People and Ecosystem modules
- EKS InTec demonstrated remote monitoring and RF:Suite solutions for digital commissioning
- SAP, CAXSOL, and others contributed scalable solutions for future-ready factory models
The sessions reflected how India’s executional capacity and Germany’s engineering expertise are combining to build intelligent, interconnected, and resilient industrial ecosystems.
Where Sustainability Meets Smart Tech
In recognition of World Environment Day (June 5), the venue featured a green-tech art installation-blending the summit’s two central themes: sustainability and smart innovation. The installation stood as a creative and timely reminder that the future of progress must be both eco-conscious and tech- driven.
