DUALpro Newsletter - March 2018

Dear VET enthusiasts and supporters,

Team DUALpro has had a very exciting start to 2018 and the excitement and engagement continues as more and more companies are becoming aware of the “need” for training and look towards us as a qualified partner in their VET journey.

Amidst our daily chores there have been some concrete developments which we would like to share with our enthusiasts and ardent supporters.

BIG steps forward…

Particularly noteworthy is the progress with the project "GIIVET - DUAL Indo-German Certification for VET programs" of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) in cooperation with the AHK Indien (IGCC). Under this project, training institutes known as German Indian Institutes for Vocational Education and Training (GIIVET) are to be set up which would follow a jointly agreed curriculum based on the tried and tested German curriculum and German quality standards. For the first time, one exam would lead to simultaneous awarding of a German and an Indian certificate. This is the first project of its kind across the globe.

It is a matter of great pride to see the mechanism work smoothly and at a fast pace with both the Indian side and the German side showing equal enthusiasm to make this project LIVE at the earliest possible. Now with the GIIVET affiliation norms approved by both sides and curriculums approved for 05 trades, the wheels have already been set in motion. The industry has also been proactive and some big players have approached to be part of the project.

As we look forward to launch the GIIVETs in the coming months, there have been reasons to celebrate already!

Graduation time!

The award ceremony for the 2nd batch of the VETnet one-year Industry Mechanic course took place at the Sheraton Grand in Pune on February 22, 2018, amidst excited trainees with their beaming family members by their side and a contented group of trainers. Also, in attendance were representatives of the partner companies like Bharat Forge, Mubea, BPW, Schmersal among others. It was a full house with over 70 guests cheering the 17 graduating students, who trained together at the Don Bosco Industrial Training Centre in Pune, as they received their certificate.

Mr. Peter Deubet, Dy. Director General, IGGC, welcomed the guests at the award ceremony and also emphasized on the increased chances of employment for the graduating students as well as the benefit of skilled workforce for the employers in general resulting from the growing vocational education and training in the country.
