Dear VET enthusiasts and supporters,
Last week was a special one for team DUALpro and that is because of two reasons:
Firstly, on 27.11.2017 His Excellency, Dr. Martin Ney, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to India and Dr. K P Krishnan, Joint Secretary of the Indian Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) jointly addressed and awarded 58 apprentices graduating as mechatronic technicians and tool and die engineers at the GTTI - Gedee Technical Training Institute in Coimbatore. The apprentices have graduated after 3.5 years of their apprenticeship following German curricula and received a German certificate for their passing. Besides the German Ambassador and the Joint Secretary of the MSDE many dignitaries from important German and Indian institutions were represented like the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (DIHK), the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) Nürnberg, Mr. Hermann Weiler, Patron of GTTI, the Fraunhofer Institute, IGCC and many more.
Once again: congratulations to all graduates from us at the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce - you make us proud!
Secondly, during the course of the certificate ceremony at the GTTI, His Excellency, Dr. Martin Ney, handed over a copy of the “agreement of welcoming” supporting the initiative between the MSDE and IGCC/DIHK to work on a dual Indo-German certification for VET programs. The copy was signed by the German Federal Ministry for Research and Education (BMBF) and will be signed by Dr. Krishnan in Delhi in the coming days.
Taking active steps in regards of the dual certification, on 28.11.2017 a workshop with representatives of the MSDE and NCVT (National Council of Vocational Training) on the Indian side and DIHK, IGCC, IHK Nürnberg and iMOVE on the German side took place in Coimbatore. During the workshop, it was decided that a joint committee will be appointed in charge of the selected German Indian Institutes of Vocational Education and Training (GIIVET) where the dual certification should be implemented. Furthermore, a timeline and concrete steps were decided upon.
