A) Special Events

· Receptions for German Heads of State, Ministers and other dignitaries

The IGCC organizes receptions for visiting top-ranking statesmen and accompanying V.I.Ps. Past events included receptions for the German Chancellor, German President, German Foreign Minister, Minister Presidents and Ministers of German States, etc.

· International Conferences 

The Indo-German Chamber organizes large scale Indo-German conferences – covering all aspects right from  the planning to the execution.  Examples are:

The 13th Asia Pacific Conference (APK), held in 2012 in Gurgaon, Delhi had a participation of over 700 high ranking German and Indian CEOs and decision makers. The event was held over 3-4 days with a supplementary programme that included 2-3 additional Indian cities.  APK is held biannually in Asia since 1986.  Overall promotors and organisers included the German Chambers of Commerce abroad (AHKs), the Asia-Pacific Association of German Business (APA) as well as the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology of Germany. The Asia-Pacific Association was supported by the Federation of German Industries (BDI), the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (DIHK), the German Asia-Pacific Business Association (OAV), the Federation of German Wholesale, Foreign Trade and Services (BGA) and the Association of German Banks(Bankenverband).

The Indo-German Chamber of Commerce was the local host and organizer of the 2012 event

· Job Fairs

 “Trained in Germany Mumbai 2014”Job Fair and Conference held in Mumbai in 2014. The event was organised on behalf of the ‘Make it in Germany’ initiative and the social media network ‘Alumniportal Deutschland’. “Trained in Germany Mumbai 2014” followed the success of the first such job fair held in Pune in September 2013. The focus of the  Job Fair was to bring young professionals and alumni, especially from STEM backgrounds (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), who had studied, worked, done research or training in Germany and were interested in a career in German or international companies, together with German and international companies with openings for such trained professionals.  Participating companies were provided a booth for corporate/employer branding etc. in the Job Fair and also given a presentation slot in the  Conference programme. Over 400 professionals /alumni and around 25 Indo-German companies/organisations participated.  A one-day Virtual Job Fair concluded the overall “Trained in Germany Mumbai 2014” programme.

· Technology Symposia

Technology Symposia are events, where leading German companies in a particular sector make presentations on their products and latest innovations - to Indian participants across cities. E.g.:

VDW Technology Symposia : “Innovations in Production Technology, Machine Tools from Germany” held in Chennai and Pune in March 2016

For the fourth time in India on behalf of the VDW (German Machine Tool Builders’ Association), the event, organised by IGCC, showcased the best and latest innovations from German tool makers.   Around 240 Indian participants /customers from the automotive industry and its component suppliers, the general mechanical engineering sector and the aviation industry attended the symposium in Chennai and around 220 participants attended the Pune event.

 

· Business promotion events

e.g. “ Business Opportunities for Indian Companies in Eastern Germany”

Presentation events for Germany Trade & Invest (GTAI) every year/couple of years since 2009, across various Indian cities and across a wide sector of industries.

 

· Partnership events

e.g. with the Lapp Group and City of Stuttgart, the IGCC has  been promoting the ‘Stuttgart Wine Festival” - held annually in Mumbai to commemorate the partnership between the cities of Stuttgart and Mumbai since the last 13 years.  The event comprises topical workshops, evenings of culture, food, wine and networking.

 

B) Corporate Business & Networking Events for Members

The IGCC has helped member companies to reach out to other member companies/promote global business themes through organized events, e.g.

Business Visa and Compliance Seminar for Corporates in 2015

Workshops on the GST, e.g.  by Trilegal in 2016

Seminars on the Union Budget, e.g. by PWC in 2017

D) Regular IGCC Events

· Annual General Meeting (AGM)

The AGM is the most important annual business event for IGCC members. Around 700 VIPs and members participate in this high profile event, which also includes a product display exhibition by member companies. In addition to a prize giving ceremony for top performing  indo-german businesses (e.g. export awards etc) there  is generally a topical theme for each AGM on which interesting AGM addresses are made. In addition to the German and Indian Ambassadors being  present at the AGM, the Chief Guests/Guests of Honour at the AGM are generally  a German and /or an  Indian Minister (e.g.at the 60th AGM in 2016 in Delhi, the Chief Guests were Hon’ble Alexander Dobrindt, German Minister for Transport and Digital Infrastructure and Shri Suresh Prabhu, Hon’ble Minister for Railways, Govt. of India. At the 2015 AGM in Mumbai, the Chief Guest was: Hon’ble Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister of Maharashtra)

 

· Founders’ Day Lecture

To celebrate the founding of the IGCC, a lecture by a prominent German speaker is organized during each year. e.g. Winfried Kretschmann, Minister President of the State of Baden-Württemberg, Germany  gave the lecture in 2017. Earlier years have seen a number of eminent German speakers giving the IGCC Founders’ Day Lecture, e.g. Dr. Peter Ramsauer, Federal Minister of Transport, Building and Urban Development, in 2011,  Prof. Dr. Horst Koehler, President of the Federal Republic of Germany,  in 2010, etc.

 

2. IGCC events in Germany and Europe

e.g. Organised Business and Hospitality events in Germany and Austria for 100 CEOs comprising clients of a leading bank in 2013 . The programme included a business conference in Munich with Bavarian Ministry, Indian Consul General and international speakers, an executive development programme /presentation at the Glacierstation Zugspitze (German Alps) and a business luncheon at “Imperial Villa” in Austria, as also an exclusive hospitality programme, etc.

e.g. For Senior management students from India, IGCC has arranged company visits in Germany and Austria e.g. Aluplast , Mercedes Benz, Porche, etc.  including Reception by the Mayor of Karlsruhe, etc.

 

3.Delegations and related events

From Germany

The events department is a “one point contact“ for organizing delegation visits in India. This includes: preparation of a tentative programme based on business interests of the delegation, its budget etc., preparation of cost estimate, booking hotel rooms, local transport, coordinating with IGCC branches and external agencies. Programmes could include pre-arranged partnership meetings (buyer-seller meets), company visits, seminars and presentations, receptions, media planning, press meets, reporting, accounting and billing etc. These services facilitate smooth and successful execution of the programme.

A few examples of successful recent delegation visits include:

·Delegation to Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai- led by Minister of Economics, Energy, Transport and Regional Development and Vice Minister-President of the German State of Hessen, Mr. Tarek Al-Wazir, in 2015.

· Delegation to Pune, Mumbai and Bangalore  - led by Minister President Winfried Kretschmann of the German State of Baden-Wuerttemberg, in 2017.
