At the same time, there is a need to protect data from unauthorized access. In order to help you understand the issues, backgrounds and different cultural aspects that can govern data protection, IGCC is organizing an interactive session for its members.

Data is a crucial resource for today’s businesses. At the same time, there is a need to protect data from unauthorized access. Europe’s new data protection regulations (GDPR) came into effect just a few months ago. Shortly after that, an Indian expert commission published a draft of India’s data protection law which is being discussed widely now.

In order to help you understand the issues, backgrounds and different cultural aspects that can govern data protection, IGCC is organizing an interactive session for its members.

Mr. Nari Kalwani, Chairman, IGCC Eastern Region, will be giving a brief introduction to the members, following which we will have two presentations:

1. 'Germany’s take on data protection – and a brief introduction to the European General Data Protection Regulation'

Speaker: Ms. Silja Palatzky, who is a legal clerk at the Higher Regional Court of Munich, Germany, and currently working at the legal department of the IGCC. She graduated from the University of Passau, Germany, in 2016, with a professional focus on media and internet law and wrote a thesis about cyber mobbing. After mastering her practical training as a legal clerk, she took the written part of her second bar exam in June 2018.

2. 'Evolution of Data Protection in India – what companies need to know now'

Speaker: Mr Arijit Chakraborty, who is a practicing Chartered Accountant in the areas of Corporate Governance, Risk Management, Financial & Legal Compliance, Internal Audits & Sustainability. He holds an MBA in Finance and is an Information Systems Auditor. He is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) from USA and has completed the Management & Leadership Program, from Harvard. Mr. Chakraborty is an International Capacity Building Advisor on projects funded by World Bank, ADB, DST, etc., in diverse sectors ranging from Healthcare, Solid Waste Management, Clean Energy, Skill Development, Agriculture & Food Security, AI &Machine Learning, and more. In a career spanning 18 years, he has worked with PwC, EY, Deloitte USA, KPMG and was Director & Group Head with BDO India. He is associated with IGCC as a faculty member for Indo-German Training Centre (IGTC) Kolkata's Executive Business Management Programme (EBMP) and for IGCC's EUREM Energy Efficiency Training Programme.
