Join our virtual kick-off event for the SustainAwards 2022 in Industrial Water Management! This initiative is supported by IGCC and GIZ.
Water management prevails to be a tremendous challenge in India across all sectors and industries! India’s water demand is expected to be twice the available supply of water by 2030. The yearly industrial demand for water will rise by 81% until the year 2025. At present, industrial plants in India consume about three times more water per production unit compared to similar plants operating in other countries. At the same time, the Indian government is aiming for industrial growth rates of 12% to 14% creating 100 million jobs. Fast economic acceleration needs to be balanced with its risks in terms of impacts on biodiversity, waste production, soils, groundwater, resource use and social conflict. In this dynamic environment, a key challenge remains to achieve economic growth that benefits all citizens while ensuring environmental protection.
Against this background, IGCC SustainMarkets, together with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ) India, is expanding its effort to promote responsible business practises in industrial water management with its 2022 edition of its SustainAwards and brings its awards to the Indian states of Bihar, Uttarakhand and West Bengal - while raising awareness about the relevance of water conservation and the sustainable usage of resources in industrial processes.
The SustainAwards is inviting companies operating in those three Indian states to share their best practices, innovative solutions, and contributions to industrial water management along with the following five categories:
1. Best Large Indian company | 2. Best Large Foreign company | 3. Best Indian SME’s |
4.Best Foreign SME’s | 5. Best Industrial Area |
The call for application is open from June to August - requesting all interested companies to hand in their applications by 16th September 2022
