The investment into new production site reflects commitment towards the environment (Zero Liquid Discharge, photovoltaic system & boiler for steam production).
We have achieved a major milestone with the official opening of our first production plant in Ranipet/India on the 18th of April 2024. It is our most sustainable production site equipped with state-of-the-art technology to protect the environment. In Ranipet, Amann will produce sewing and embroidery threads of the highest quality for the leather and apparel industry. AMANN has been represented in India since 2007 with sales offices in Chennai, Bengaluru and Gurgaon.
Peter Morgalla, Member of the AMANN Board of Management and Chairman of AMANN India:
“We are very proud to put this plant into operation today. We have closed the gap and are now able to offer our customers a comprehensive network of sales offices, delivery options, and short lead times throughout Asia. Moreover, we will also provide Technical Advisory Services for our customers to exploit the full potential of our products.”
Key figures about the new plant:
- Location: Ranipet/Vellore in Tamil Nadu within the “leather belt”
- Product scope: high-quality sewing and embroidery threads for the leather and apparel industry
- Production site space: 32,000 square meters
- Employees: 200
Sustainability profile of the new plant
The investment into our new production site reflects our serious commitment towards the environment:
- By using Zero Liquid Discharge (ZDL), all extracted water remains in a closed cycle system. Only 9% of fresh water has to be replenished due to evaporation.
- Energy demand is mostly covered by a comprehensive photovoltaic system, additional demand is supplied by a nearby wind and solar park.
- The boiler for steam production – important for the dyeing process of the threads - operates with biomass.
The grand opening ceremony was attended by the CEO, CFO from Headquarters, Germany, Sanjeev Grewal, Regional Business Director Southwest Asia and Middle East and Managing Director AMANN India and other senior management of the company besides the German Consulate General to India, Chennai Michaela Küchler. Mallikarjuna Shivasharanappa, Regional Director IGCC Chennai attended the plant inauguration and congratulated the management team of Amann for choosing Ranipet and adding it to the list of German companies in Tamil Nadu.
Amann is happy to serve our customers in India.
