India, a major driver of global growth and a key player in the ESG landscape
According to the United Nations' flagship economic report, India's economy is set to grow at 6.6% in 2025, preserving its position as a major driver of global growth at a time when the overall world economy is projected to remain relatively stagnant. This long-term growth potential is fueled by favorable demographics, stable governance and recoveries across neighboring countries.
With strong ESG regulations and mandatory disclosures, the country is also a global hub for sustainable sourcing with industries like textiles, IT and agriculture aligning with international ESG standards.
In light of this, amfori aims to further tap into this opportunity to help international and local businesses achieve their sustainability goals and objectives.
“A key driver for opening the new office was to attract and welcome Indian businesses as amfori members. India is gearing up to be resilient and future ready as it embeds sustainability in business strategy for long-term growth. We are building tomorrow, today!’ Natasha Majumdar, amfori Network Representative India states.
