The first 2024 Eastern Region Council Meeting by the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce was successfully held in Kolkata at the German Consulate. The meeting started with opening words by German Consul General H.E. Barbara Voss, highlighting the great cooperation between the IGCC and the Consulate and the importance of bringing more female leaders and their voices to the table.
Nari Kalwani from Asian Leather and ERC Chairman also welcomed the guests at the meeting. Over 20 high-level representatives from German and Indian companies were in attendance. Tom Reiner, Regional Director of the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce, gave a presentation on the chamber services and the growing number of members, especially in Assam and Odisha.
The guests expressed great response and excitement about the upcoming 18th Asia Pacific Conference of German Business (APK) on 24-26 October in Delhi. The APK is a flagship event for business leaders, executives, and political representatives to discuss and promote economic relations between Germany and the Asia-Pacific region. It is jointly organized by the Asia-Pacific Committee of German Business (APA), the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), and the IGCC.
Special speakers at the meeting included Indras Ghosh, Head – IGCC SustainMarkets, who discussed current sustainability topics such as the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act and Diversity and Gender Lens in Business. The meeting concluded with a presentation by Satish Gupta, Ex-Bureau of Indian Standards, Former Dy. Director General on Updates on BIS Certifications.
Overall, the meeting was a great success, with valuable insights shared by industry leaders and experts in the field. The Indo-German Chamber of Commerce continues to play an important role in fostering business relations between Germany and India.
