25-08-22. IGCC, Pune.
In August, the first batches of the Training of Master Trainers appeared for the dual examination by IGCC and the Management & Entrepreneurship and Professional Skills Council (MEPSC). The examination concludes a 120-hour training programme, funded by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and implemented by IGCC and MEPSC, qualifies training experts from 38 Sector Skill Council and their training partners on training in-company trainer on how to plan, prepare, conduct, and conclude apprenticeships. Upon completion of the programme, the participating Master trainers are then expected to pass on their knowledge in a cascade model to training partners of Sector Skill Council and (prospective) in-company trainers in the irrespective fields of expertise, thus covering a wide range of sectors and trades. Thus, the project aims to improve the quality of in-company training in dual, cooperative, and workplace-based training programmes across different sectors and trades all over India.
In order to ensure the relevancy of the programme, the Training of Master Trainers was developed by IGCC and MEPSC based on a skill gap analysis conducted with the Sector Skill Councils. As a result, seven learning areas were identified and designed into learning modules. As a founding, all participants undergo the basic version of the Ausbildung der Ausbilder (AdA) – International, the German training of in-company trainers. Based on best practice principles of the German dual vocational education system, the flagship qualification concept of the German Chambers of Commerce and Industry worldwide enables in-company trainers to check the prerequisites for dual training within their organisation, plan dual training in cooperation with partners, implement effective on-job training sessions, and ensuring training success. Afterwards, the training participants enhance their competences in communication, time management, conflict management, problem solving, training organization and giving and taking feedback – important aspects for master trainers. For ease of participation, the Training of Master traineres was designed to take place in a virtual space, consisting of live online sessions complemented by self-learning contents made available on Atingi. Upon completion, the participants appear for the German Trainer Aptitude Test as per AdA – International (Basic Version) as well as MEPSC’s master trainer exam and are awarded dual certification by IGCC and MEPSC as well as a certificate of participation by all project partners.
Sustainable economic development and job creation are at the top of lndia's priorities. To produce a workforce of adequate quality and quantity, the Indian Government promotes the active involvement of private sector organizations in the design and implementation of a demand- driven, workplace- based vocational education and training (VET) system. To achieve this objective, IGCC’s vocational training brand DUALpro works with members companies and government partners to set up highly impactful training initiatives based on the German dual model. The Training of Master Trainers is a step forward to more such programmes, trainings and collaborations in line with the German dual system.
