“The end of one journey is the beginning of the next” - Joseph M. Marshall III
Just more than ten years back, the IGCC welcomed the Hamburg Representation in Mumbai. Since then, the long association has led to fruitful collaborations and been instrumental support for many Indian and Hamburg-based companies.
Four years back, Lea Miram joined the Hamburg Representation Mumbai and, thus, also became a part of the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce. Throughout her tenure, she strengthened the link between the City of Hamburg and Mumbai. Of course, India and Germany are two distinct cultures, but the transition was seamless and heartening.
Ms. Lea said, “Over the years, many great memories came together and overall, it was a pleasure to represent my favourite city in the world in my favourite country. Moreover, working at this interface with a wide range of stakeholders from business, culture, and politics has provided me with a vivid picture of the great potential of multilevel cooperation and the benefits of a strong partnership between Hamburg and India.
Of course, it’s not easy to leave. However, Hamburg is not only home to me but also to many Indians. The sharp increase of Indian businesses and students deciding to come to Hamburg to create a future, contributing to Hamburg’s multifaceted, vibrant cultural life, will keep the Indian connection close by. I am confident with Sameeha Sule as the new Hamburg representative and her extensive experience in strengthening the various Indo-German relations. We will see a fresh approach to promoting and facilitating the focus sectors of Hamburg in India and vice versa”.
Sameeha Pradeep Sule has been selected as the new Hamburg representative in Mumbai and will be taking after Lea Miram. She has been supporting Hamburg-based companies and institutions with their queries concerning India since 2020.
“I love the conjunction of cultures, and through my activities in Mumbai, I am constantly working towards promoting an enriching experience on both sides. India is a large, heterogeneous and sometimes extremely complex country. Therefore, I am very pleased that we, as HRM, can support companies in their activities and strengthen relations with such a fascinating country and globally significant market. I am delighted and thankful for this opportunity. Lea was a great mentor, and I hope that I will be able to effectively walk in her footsteps and do more for the Indo-Hamburg Business Community,” added Ms. Sule.
The Hamburg Representation Mumbai office, since its establishment in November 2011, has been involved in bridging the gap between India and Germany by aiding various economic, cultural, and academic institutions. In addition, we actively support private business firms and organizations from both India and Germany to improve business ties between the two countries. Our expertise lies in the fields of Trade, Politics, Culture, Education, Tourism and Liaison.
