On the 9th of May 2024, the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce organized a gathering of HR leaders at Pune. Collaborating with our esteemed knowledge partners for this occasion, ADP India, Khaitan & Co and Mercer India, we delved into crucial topics - Compliance, Trends & Rewards, and Payroll.
Over 100+ HR Professionals / Senior Leaders from diverse sectors graced the event, witnessing insightful discussions on:

The event commenced with opening remarks by Kalpesh Saraf, Western Region Director, IGCC, and inviting Nivedita Balgi, Director – Talent &Transformation, Mercer and Junaid Sheikh, Director - Auto, Manufacturing and Engineering Sector Leader, Mercer. The speakers gave an insightful session on Accelerating Transformations which focused on addressing various people-related challenges within organizations. They emphasized designing the workforce for the future, attracting and retaining talent, and delivering a compelling employee experience. Key topics included workforce structuring, performance management, compensation, benefits, and flexible working. They also highlighted the importance of an Employer Value Proposition (EVP), career architecture, and career pathing. The session also touch upon fostering a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) through data analysis, pay equity assessments, and inclusive strategies to ensure employees feel respected and valued within the organization.
The event progressed into a second session and presentation by Anshul Prakash, Partner, Khaitan & Co. unveiling India's Employment Law Terrain, the session offered a concise overview of cross-border hiring benefits and challenges. It navigated through the legal, regulatory, and HR intricacies involved, presenting options like direct employment and consultancy arrangements. Highlighting EPF contributions for foreign nationals and incentives under the Indian Companies Act 2013, it emphasized compliance and employee welfare. Recognizing both the opportunities and challenges inherent in cross-border hiring, it emphasizes the critical role of strategic planning in successful cross-border hiring.
The concluding session for the evening was presented by Rahul Goyal, GM India & South East Asia, ADP India and Kavitha Rajan, VP India & South Asia, ADP India, they gave insightful information by delving into the significance of Purpose Built Payroll and its direct link to business success. They highlighted the components of effective payroll management and its relevance in addressing future business challenges. Speakers talked about prioritizing employee well-being and compensation policies while ensuring process efficiency and embracing transparency in policies, pay structures, and taxation to promote financial wellness and compliance. They also navigated through the digital landscape, highlighting data security concerns and strategic transformation steps aligned with Digital India's objectives. The session concluded with insights on Gen AI's role and essential safeguards for deploying digital transformation strategies effectively.
