Indo-German Roundtable

On 10th March 2021, FrankfurtRheinMain GmbH International Marketing of the Region (FRM GmbH) in collaboration with the Indo- German Chamber of Commerce (IGCC), Kolkata and the German Consulate, Kolkata jointly organised a virtual Indo-German roundtable discussion on business relations between India and Germany/Frankfurt RheinMain. The exclusive roundtable brought together some of the leading business conglomerates from the state of West Bengal and important representatives of key German organisations active in the region. The interactive dialogue highlighted the vital aspects of Indo-German bilateral trade and the support offered to Indian companies to do business in and with Germany.

The exclusive roundtable commenced with the opening remarks by the eminent panelists. Hon. Consul General of the Federal  Republic of Germany in Kolkata, Manfred Auster, highlighted the key activities of the German Consulate and the support extended by them to German and Indian companies. Nari Kalwani, Chairman, Indo- German Chamber of Commerce, Eastern Region, shared insights on the key services and initiatives provided by the chamber for its member companies. Eric Menges, President & CEO, FrankfurtRheinMain GmbH International Marketing of the Region, spoke about the strategic position of the Frankfurt metropolitan region, especially for international companies for a successful expansion and restart in the changed current scenario. Vivek Dhir, CEO International Business, Emami Limited and Chirag Sheth, VP Finance & Business  Development, Emami Limited, presented Emami’s growth in international markets with a special focus on their collaboration and merger with the prominent German cosmetics brand Crème 21.

The opening remarks were followed by a round of introductions by the participants. Each of them was provided an opportunity to share critical areas requiring support and assistance for their businesses from the government officials present during the roundtable. A key highlight was an interactive panel discussion towards the end of the session. The panelists included Hon. CG Manfred Auster, Nari Kalwani, Disha Shah, Director India, FrankfurtRheinMain GmbH International Marketing of the Region and Vivek Dhir. The topics of the panel discussion ranged from doing business effectively in Germany to address the possible aspects that companies experience whilst conducting businesses abroad and how the International Marketing Agencies can extend assistance in easing out these creases to expand overseas successfully. The stimulating session was moderated seamlessly by Sabina Pandey, Regional Director, Indo-German Chamber of Commerce, Kolkata.
