The maritime industry is undergoing a remarkable transition. This event, held from September 3 to 6, brought together over 48,000 participants from more than 100 countries, creating an environment ripe for innovative ideas and impactful networking.
The Hamburg Representation Mumbai had the honour to have facilitated the participation of the Indian delegation at SMM 2024. Over 10 Delegates attended the exhibition, as well as multiple side events that highlighted India on a global platform, such as the inauguration of the India Pavilion, showcasing the nation’s growing maritime capabilities. A session held by the INMEX SMM India for 'India’s maritime ascent: Fostering Dynamic Global Partnerships' saw keynote speakers Dr. Venkata Ramana Akkaraju, the Chairperson of the New Mangalore Port Authority and the Consul General, Consulate of India in Hamburg, Ms. Soumya Gupta. Additionally, an insightful and guided tour of the Port of Hamburg by Jahn Daniel of the Hamburg Port Authority (HPA) provided an in-depth look at Hamburg’s port infrastructure and operations. The day concluded with a formal networking reception, featuring traditional Indian cuisine.
Among the highlights were the SMM Maritime Start-up Award and the AI for the Oceans Award, which spotlighted emerging start-ups that are driving change in the industry. The event featured four Transition Stages hosting a dynamic program with over 350 speakers, addressing critical challenges and solutions in the maritime world. Attendees benefited from high-profile panels and sessions that kept the 12 exhibition halls bustling with engagement, showcasing more than 2,200 exhibitors across various sectors.
The energy and enthusiasm at SMM were palpable, showcasing the collective commitment to advancing the maritime sector.
