The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) published a study,“Mit Verantwortung zum Erfolg” (Moving with Responsibility Toward Success). The new study highlights the best practices of 10 companies on implementing the Supply Chain Act, provide insights and demonstrates how entrepreneurial practice can be shaped with human rights due diligence.
With the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (Lieferkettengesetz) starting from 2023,companies with more than 3,000 employees, and from 2024 for companies more than 1,000 employees,the new study aims to provide information to companies that are looking for suggestions on how to implement the Supply Chain Act in practice.These participating companies in the study represent a good mix of large companies,such as Daimler or Siemens, medium-sized companies such as Bierbaum-Proenen and an owner-managed company such as the jewellery studio Thomas Becker. In addition, the study used ten case studies to understand how Human Rights Due Diligence can be implemented in practice along global supply chains.
The study was commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and prepared by the management consultancies Accenture and twentyfifty.
