Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) Worldwide
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is the largest funding organisation in the world, supporting the international exchange of students and scholars. Since founded in 1925, more than 1.5 million scholars in Germany and abroad have received DAAD funding. With German institutions of higher education and student bodies its activities go far beyond awarding grants and scholarships. The DAAD supports the internationalisation of German universities, promotes German studies and the German language abroad, runs initiatives for universities in developing countries and advises decision makers on cultural, education and development policy matters. The DAAD, having its head office in Bonn, Germany, operates a network of 70 regional offices and information centres worldwide. The DAAD Regional Office in New Delhi encompasses India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal and Sri Lanka. The DAAD network in the region includes information centres in Pune, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Colombo and Dhaka, DAAD Lecturers and Language Assistants at selected universities and institutions in India, DAAD Young Ambassadors, DAAD Research Ambassadors, numerous alumni clubs, with over 5000 former scholarship holders.
