University of Cologne

The University of Cologne is one of Germany’s largest and oldest universities. True to its motto, ‘Good ideas since 1388’, the University successfully combines novelty with tradition in its research and teaching and has produced many famous academics over the decades. The University of Cologne covers a broad spectrum of disciplines and has developed internationally outstanding research profile areas on this basis. Its structure encompasses six faculties of management, economics and social sciences, law, medicine, arts and humanities, mathematics and natural sciences, and human sciences. It also offers substantial support to young researchers, maintaining several graduate schools and fostering research focus areas, including research into ageing at the Cologne Cluster of Excellence in Cellular Stress Responses in Aging-associated Diseases (CECAD).
